About JAMA Psychiatry

JAMA Psychiatry is an international peer-reviewed journal for clinicians, scholars, and research scientists in psychiatry, mental health, behavioral science, and allied fields. The Archives of Neurology & Psychiatry began publication in 1919 and, in 1959, became 2 separate journals: Archives of Neurology and Archives of General Psychiatry. In 2013, their names changed to ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ Neurology and JAMA Psychiatry, respectively. JAMA Psychiatry is a member of the ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ Network, a consortium of peer-reviewed, general medical and specialty publications.

The journal receives more than 8.8 million annual article views and downloads. Without any author fees, all research articles are made free access online 12 months after publication on the website. In addition, the online version is freely available or nearly so to institutions in developing countries through the World Health Organization's program.

JAMA Psychiatry strives to publish original, state-of-the-art studies and commentaries of general interest to clinicians and researchers in psychiatry, mental health, behavioral science, and allied fields. The journal seeks to inform its readers, to stimulate discussion into the nature, causes, treatment, and public health importance of mental illness, and to promote equity and justice for those affected by mental illness and for society.
